Theoretical exam
All theoretical tests are only carried out on the PC . A total of thirteen languages are offered.
Basically, the only thing that matters in the theoretical exam is learning, the more frequently and intensively you practice, the higher your chance of success.
Before the exam you have to take a free preliminary test in the driving school and of course we will only register you for the theoretical test if you both pass the preliminary test and we are convinced that you can do it.
The theoretical exam can be taken at least 3 months before reaching the minimum age.
Important information
From 01.10.2023, theoretical examinations in NRW can only be taken without an appointment during opening hours:
Düsseldorf (Mörsenbroich)
Wednesdays / 13:00 - 16:30
Fridays / 08:00 - 13:00
Theoretical exam dates in calendar week 52 and 1:
Monday, 23.12.2024:
08:00 to 12:00 and 12:30 to 16:00 in Wuppertal
Friday, 27.12.2024:
08:00 to 12:30 in Düsseldorf-Mörsenbroich
Monday, 30.12.2024:
08:00 to 12:00 and 12:30 to 16:00 in Garath
The location commitment does not apply to the above dates.
From 02.01.2025, the theory exams will take place again as usual and the location commitment will apply again without restriction.
Requirements for the theory test
Training certificate sent electronically (from the driving school)
TÜV fee paid (at the driving school)
Acceptance deadline depends on the number of applicants (draw number)
If point 1 and/or 2 are not complied with, the applicant will be sent out
(if no test takes place, a new number may be drawn upon clarification)
Opening time is not the same as acceptance time
(due to change of examiner to another location)
Please make sure you contact the driving school before you take your theory test.
At the same time, TÜV-Rheinland is returning to the regional principle, i.e. an applicant can only take the test in the area in whose FE office the test order is located.
